Activities

Students often join business-related clubs, but the skills that are important for the business world are useful in all organizations: philanthropic, social, athletic, or academic. Every organization needs someone to lead it, to manage finances, to recruit and manage members, and to plan events.

Business-Focused Student Organizations

  • AIESEC
    • AIESEC is the global youth network impacting the world through leadership development experiences. AIESEC has been facilitating youth leadership activities as well as international internships & volunteer experiences for over 65 years, developing a global learning environment across 125 countries & territories.
  • Algorithmic Trading Club (Algo)

    • Northwestern’s Algorithmic Trading Club explores various topics in Algorithmic Trading, Fintech, and general Finance. The group encourages members to learn through working on projects with others in the club, including trading competitions, paper trading, etc.
  • Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi) – The Premier Business Fraternity
    • Alpha Kappa Psi is an organization of business minded individuals and is recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders with members in all areas of industry and business.
  • Associated Student Government (ASG)
    • The Associated Student Government at Northwestern University is dedicated to serving the undergraduate student body. The group is honored to serve the Northwestern community by listening, learning, and acting on student needs and wants.
  • Business in Healthcare Club (BHC)
    • The Business in Healthcare Club (BHC) aims to educate, inform, and expose undergraduate students at Northwestern to the intersections of business and healthcare.
  • Center for Leadership
    • The Center for Leadership offers opportunities for all students to develop their leadership capacity in an environment that encourages experimentation and innovation.
  • Consultants Advising Student Enterprises (CASE)
    • CASE is a student organization at Northwestern dedicated to providing pro-bono consulting advice to Northwestern-based organizations, including student groups, administration, and local businesses.  CASE’s work is grounded in the group’s belief in the power of Northwestern organizations to make a difference in our community, and CASE seeks to harness their intellectual capital to help these organizations become more efficient and impactful, while also preparing our members for full-time consulting roles.
  • Consult Your Community (CYC)

    • Consult Your Community (CYC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to community empowerment, engages college students in quarter-long consulting projects that leverage their knowledge, digital expertise, mentorship connections, and consumer understanding. With a primary focus on empowering small business owners and driving positive community change, CYC provides strategic consulting services that foster a mutually beneficial partnership between academia and local businesses. This collaboration allows students to gain practical experience while contributing to the success and growth of small enterprises.
  • CPS Financial Literacy Outreach (CPS FLO)
    • CPS Financial Literacy Outreach (CPS FLO) is dedicated to providing financial literacy education to high schools in Chicago Public Schools.
  • The Daily Northwestern
    • The Daily is the paper of record for Northwestern and Evanston — and the community’s only daily, print source of news. Alumni have gone on to work/intern at The Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, ESPN, Facebook, ProPublica, the Seattle Times, the Chicago Tribune, Village Voice, Entertainment Weekly, the Associated Press, The New Yorker, NBC, Conde Nast, People magazine, TIME and more.
  • Dance Marathon (NUDM)
    • Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM) is one of the largest student-run philanthropies in the nation. Since it was founded in 1975, Northwestern students have raised more than $14 million for more than thirty different beneficiaries. The group strives to unite Northwestern University’s campus, the Evanston community and the greater Chicagoland area in philanthropic fundraising and education.
  • Delta Sigma Pi
    • As the world’s leading professional fraternity for men and women, Delta Sigma Pi develops principled business leaders for the future by providing a lifetime of opportunity for members.  Since 1907, our values and mission have guided our commitment to scholarship, service and professionalism.  Delta Sigma Pi members, who are as diverse as the business world, gain experiences in professionalism, leadership, ethics, and philanthropy.  This all leads to personal development and success—both in the business world and the civic realm. Delta Sigma Pi doesn’t just develop professionals; the Fraternity provides members with relationships, skills, and ideals necessary for them to make a significant impact wherever life leads.
  • Design for America (DFA)
    • DFA is an award-winning nationwide network of interdisciplinary student teams and community members using design to create local and social impact. The group teaches human-centered design to young adults and collaborating community partners through extra-curricular, university-based, student-led design studios.
  • EPIC
    • EPIC (formerly InNuvation) supports and inspires the student entrepreneurs, pioneers, innovators, and creators of Northwestern. EPIC curates inspirational events, hosts an annual venture challenge competition, and brings networking and job opportunities to campus. The group seeks to give all students of all disciplines the opportunity to experience entrepreneurship during their time at Northwestern and respond in epic ways.
  • Form & Function Marketing (F & F)
    • Form & Function Marketing is a full-service marketing agency that provides innovative, holistic marketing resources to fellow student organizations in order to increase their publicity and outreach on campus. The group aims to establish an educational atmosphere through which members can glean valuable real-world marketing and professional experience; foster a strong sense of pride in our members; and create a positive, collaborative work environment that emphasizes the importance of teamwork.
  • Global Research and Consulting (GRC) Group
    • The Global Research and Consulting (GRC) Group is an global non-profit with an expansive network of students from universities around the world. Our mission is to drive social impact and empower students to become responsible future leaders. Our chapters complete  200+ projects annually with past clients including Google, World Bank, Wikipedia, Oxfam, WWF, and many more.
      GRC Kellogg is dedicated to providing pro-bono consulting services to social impact organizations, including nonprofits and NGOs. We have strategy and analytic projects, as well as a robust Insights media-creation team. We also aim to develop our members’ skills by providing training and workshops alongside hands-on experience.
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship (INVO)
    • Resource for Northwestern innovators and entrepreneurs.
  • Institute for Student Business Education (ISBE)
    • Established in 2005, the Institute for Student Business Education (ISBE) is the premier business group at Northwestern University with 250 members. ISBE offers a diverse array of educational and experiential business opportunities. Above all, our mission is to be the leading resource for all Northwestern undergraduates to discover the possibilities of a career in business. ISBE does this by being an umbrella organization over multiple product groups and functional groups that each offer exposure to a specific aspect of the business world.
  • Investment Banking Club (NUIBC)
    • The Investment Banking Club serves as a comprehensive platform for high achieving Northwestern students to further develop their knowledge of investment banking and to successfully prepare for recruitment and a career in the industry. The members of NUIBC are a select group of students chosen for their scholastic achievements, involvement on campus and demonstrated interest in the industry. NUIBC extensively prepares its members for careers in investment banking through numerous activities and resources including weekly educational meetings, annual treks to New York and Chicago, mentorship and mock interviews and a robust alumni database.
  • Investment Management Club (IMC)
    • The Investment Management Club (IMC) was developed to gain exposure and insight to careers in Investment Management. In addition, undergraduate members will work with older students and alumni to procure internships.
  • Investment Management Group (IMG)
    • Northwestern University Investment Management Group (IMG) is a student run organization dedicated to those who have an interest in investment. The group seeks to expose students to the professional world of finance through informative workshops, simulations of business practices, and lectures from both professors and company representatives. IMG serves as a unique and valuable medium through which dedicated students can find both guidance and networking potential for their future.
  • Kappa Theta Pi (KTP) – A Pre-Professional Technology Fraternity
    • KTP Northwestern is co-ed organization dedicated to providing a community for students interested in technology. They host events, workshops, and socials to help students learn and grow in their tech careers.
  • Lambda Strategy
    • Lambda Strategy is a strategy consulting organization run by Northwestern University undergraduates.
  • Lending for Evanston and Northwestern Development (LEND)
    • LEND is a student-run, non-profit organization that empowers entrepreneurs in Evanston to create businesses, create jobs, and reach financial self-sufficiency. By providing access to small amounts of capital and business development services, LEND is devoted to connecting the Northwestern and Evanston communities under the shared objectives of aiding businesses, economic development, and social change.
  • Northwestern Capital Management (NCM)
    • Northwestern Capital Management is a student run, endowment-backed investment fund focused on long/short equity. While the end product of our work is a comprehensive stock pitch, members gain value through the skills and knowledge gained throughout the process. Members gain a deeper understanding of corporate finance principles, from accounting basics to advanced valuation techniques. Members also learn to develop a unique perspective of the market which enables them to identify and express a differentiated view. All of these skills together are meant to help students who are interested in pursuing finance recruiting or for those who just want to learn more.
  • Northwestern Economics Tournament (NET)
    • Northwestern Economics Tournament (NET) is an annual event for high school students passionate about economics and its applications. Northwestern students involved in NET volunteer to organize and run this event.
  • Northwestern Energy and Sustainability Club (NESC)
    • The Northwestern Energy and Sustainability Club (NESC) brings together undergraduates passionate about energy and sustainability. As a pre-professional organization, NESC offers members opportunities to connect with industry experts, participate in recruitment events, attend talks from leading professionals, and explore various industries through field trips. Our mission is to provide students with the experience, education, and networks necessary to create meaningful change in the energy and sustainability fields. Students from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to join!
  • Northwestern Financial Technologies Club (NUFT)

    • Student-led professional and project based organization for those interested in the financial technology space.

  • Northwestern Undergraduate Real Estate Club (UREC)
    • The Northwestern University Real Estate Club (UREC) seeks to prepare undergraduates with the required skills to thrive in the real estate finance industry as well as adjacent sectors across PropTech or corporate real estate functions. Club members will undergo financial modeling training, take part in networking events, and more that helps to explore and navigate their interests in the industry.
  • NU Threads
    • NU Threads is Northwestern’s shared formalwear closet that lends formalwear to students at no charge for events such as interviews, networking sessions, presentations, and anything else that requires formal or professional wear. NU Threads aims to ensure that all students can maximize their Northwestern experiences, without ever running into the problem of a lack of appropriate formal clothing.  Formal situations tend to already be stress-inducing and difficult, so a lack of adequate clothing would just exacerbate this – NU Threads aims to help alleviate this problem.
  • NU Thrift Store
    • Northwestern University’s only student-run thrift store pushing sustainability and equity to the forefront of fashion.
  • Personal Finance Student Association (PFSA)
    • The Personal Finance Student Association (PFSA) assists Northwestern students in managing their personal finance. The group hopes to educate fellow students in responsible financial practices and a healthy understanding of the five branches of personal finance (taxes, budgeting, credit, long-term planning/investing, and insurance), in addition to helping them navigate and utilize the resources Northwestern already offers. The group also wants to develop a community that understands the difficulties and supports the unique perspective of FGLI students, as well as advocate to the University in regards to the financial needs of all students.
  • Platinum Valuation Group (PVG)
    • The Platinum Valuation Group (PVG) is an undergraduate student organization dedicated to equipping its members with a comprehensive understanding of how to apply quantitative and qualitative business valuation techniques to make strategic investments. PVG combines technical training with investment pitch projects to support members in developing valuation and investment expertise while collaborating with peers. PVG aims to equip students with the knowledge necessary to value and invest in businesses in a variety of careers, including investment banking, private equity, asset management, consulting, and more.
  • Private Equity and Venture Capital Club
    • Northwestern University Private Equity and Venture Capital Club is a student-run organization dedicated to those who have an interest in private equity, growth equity and venture capital. The organization seeks to expose students to the world of private and growth investing by providing formal education in each field, mentorship opportunities with alumni and Kellogg faculty, professional development workshops, simulated investing projects, speaker events, and connections with Chicago based PE/VC firms.
  • Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations (SCNO)
    • Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations (SCNO) at Northwestern University provides clients with meaningful strategic consulting services to achieve significant results in the community, while simultaneously fostering opportunities for students to develop professional skills and gain practical consulting experience.
  • TAMID
    • A student-run organization that connects business minded students with the Israeli economy through consulting projects with startups, an investment fund, business education, and a fellowship that sends (and funds) three of TAMID’s best students to Israel for a summer internship.
  • The Garage
    • The Garage is a cross-disciplinary entrepreneurship space for Northwestern Students to experiment, collaborate, and get their ideas built.
  • Undergraduate Economic Society (UES)
    • The Undergraduate Economics Society is a group for undergraduate economics majors, and others interested in economics and business.
  • Women in Business (WIB)
    • Women in Business is an open-entry organization established to provide business-minded women with the background and network to support them in their professional endeavors.  WIB’s goal is to engage women across a wide variety of academic and professional affiliations on campus in order to catalyze the involvement of women in the Northwestern community, in the business world, and beyond.  WIB members go through a multi-disciplinary educational series for one quarter before joining and then are split off into industry specific functional groups (i.e. consulting, finance, marketing).
  • Womxn in Economics (WiE)
    • Womxn in Economics (WiE) is a group for non-male undergraduate students seeking to develop their interests in economics within an affinity environment. WiE provides a variety of events and learning opportunities to offer insight into the many ways economics can be applied in interdisciplinary academic fields, careers, and broader society. General membership is open to all students interested in creating an empowering environment within an often male-dominated field. Our hope is that all womxn will have the resources and support they need to see that economics is for everyone!
  • The Women’s Network – NU Chapter (TWN-NU)
    • The Women’s Network (TWN) is committed to changing the way women network. In creating a supportive, non-competitive community, we lift women up, creating a more proactive way of communicating and networking. Ultimately, our goal is to prepare women to achieve professional success, while cultivating and celebrating their ambition.

  • Bloomberg Terminal

    • The Bloomberg Terminal is a global financial services system that provides financial, economic and government information covering all market sectors. It features company financials, market data spanning more than 20 years, charts, statistics and current news reports. The Bloomberg Terminal is a dedicated computer terminal for accessing financial data electronically. It seamlessly integrates real-time and historical information on about 5 million bonds, equities, commodities, currencies and funds. It also comprises data on almost every publicly traded company and biographies of more than 1 million people. It has financial, political, and business news as well.
    • Northwestern University’s Bloomberg Terminal is physically located in the Main Library John B. McGowan Information Commons (first floor of Library). Additional terminals, for Kellogg affiliates only, are located in the Kellogg Global Hub. The Bloomberg Terminal at the Northwestern library is available to Northwestern University faculty, staff, and students only. You must create a login. A cell phone number will be necessary to authenticate a new user.

    • The Kapnick Center for Business Institutions presents the Investing in Education program from Dow Jones.
